A little message from behind the chair…

I’ve been meaning to share this for a while now, because it’s something I talk about all the time during consultations, not just with clients, but also with friends and family. And honestly, it surprises a lot of people!

So here it is: you should be shampooing your hair twice. Every time.

I know it might sound like a salon thing or just an “extra” step, but it’s actually one of the easiest ways to keep your hair and scalp healthy.

Here’s Why Shampooing Twice Truly Matters

  1. The first shampoo is for removing all the buildup. Think of all the things that end up in your hair between washes. Dry shampoo, hairspray, natural oils, sweat, dust… even just day-to-day pollution. The first shampoo lifts all of that away, but it doesn’t go deep.

  1. The second shampoo is where the magic happens.

Now that your hair is cleared of surface buildup, the second round can actually clean your scalp and hair properly. This is when the shampoo’s ingredients (like moisturisers, proteins, or balancing agents) can do what they’re supposed to do.

  1. You’ll get way better lather.

If you’ve ever wondered why your shampoo doesn’t foam much at first, it’s because it’s busy tackling all that buildup. The second wash always lathers better because it’s finally getting to clean hair.

  1. Your hair stays fresher for longer.

Double shampooing gives you that squeaky-clean feel without stripping your hair and it just lasts longer. You’ll notice your hair feels lighter, bouncier, and more balanced.

And here’s the really important part...

Double shampooing isn’t just about having shiny hair it’s about scalp health. It helps prevent buildup, keeps dandruff at bay, and gives your scalp the clean environment it needs to support healthy hair growth. Long-term, that can mean stronger hair and less thinning.

So next time you’re washing your hair, don’t skip that second shampoo.

It’s a tiny change that can make a huge difference. Your scalp (and your future hair) will thank you for it.
